Sealed 1.5 meter CO2 smb , SMB'S are becoming mandatory on boats world wide, Skipper's needs to be able to locate you so they can come and pick you up, The smb has a co2 cartridge attached to the buoy in a firing block the cartridge is fired by pulling a cord on the firing block, This is a great way of inflating the buoy if the diver is stressed or is low on air , Also the LP (low pressure hose) attachment can be used to inflate the buoy this has been specially designed so that once the smb has enough air in it will slide off of the hose deploying the smb to the surface and NOT the diver when deployed correctly, this method of inflation is great as it does not require the diver to create a second stage free flow to inflate the smb.
The dump valve is placed at the top of the smb, because the co2 inflation system and LP attachment is at the bottom of the smb near the divers hand, This makes sure that that dump doesn't get caught on either of the two inflation system's dumping air once the smb has been inflated, this is also useful if a diver is in a stressed situation by not complicating the inflation and dump valve systems.
